Woman Shot Several Times, Found at Hayward Apartment

Hayward police are looking for the person or people who shot at a woman several times and who was found at an apartment complex late Halloween night.

Sgt. Mark Ormsby said the woman, who hasn't been identified, was found at the Lord Tennyson Apartments complex off Tennyson Road near Sleepy Hollow Avenue in West Hayward, and was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The 28-year-old woman remains in critical, but stable condition and is in a medical-induced coma after overnight surgery. Police said the woman is a Hayward resident, but are unsure if she lives in the apartment complex or was visiting someone there.

Police said the shooting happened around 11 p.m. Thursday. The department received several 911 calls from residents who reported hearing the woman say, "Don't shoot me. Don't shoot me." Callers also reported hearing several gunshots in the area.

When officers arrived on scene they found the woman laying in the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds to her upper body. Police said she was found alone and have no witnesses to the shooting.

The woman is the fourth person to be shot at the apartment complex in the recent months.
