A woman's body was found in a Concord duck pond on Monday morning, and police are now searching for a man who has been named a suspect in her death.
Police said the victim, identified as 25-year-old Poinsettia Parks, was found at 2:36 a.m. floating at the edge of a pond in the Newhall Community Park near the Boxer Boulevard entrance.
The suspect, Erick Lamar Nelson, 26, knew Parks, police said.
Two men told NBC Bay Area they stumbled across the body of the Concord resident.
"I'm shocked," Roman Pagan said. "You would never think something like that would happen." He said he saw "blood" and something floating in the water, with what looked like an orange shirt next to it.
"It was a girl in there," Pagan said.
Police have since determined that Parks was a victim of homicide. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Nelson, who police said should be considered armed and dangerous.

Nelson was described by police as having black hair and brown eyes who stands at 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs 185 pounds.
Police said Nelson could be in possession of a black, four-door 2003 Kia Spectra. The vehicle's California license plate number is 5ENY919.
Amateur photographer Mike Felder visits Newhall Community Park everyday, hoping to capture photos that reflect "what the beauty of this park is," he said.
The scene Tuesday, however, was completely the opposite.
It was a "little less than beautiful, that's for sure," Felder said.
