BEVERAGE BASH: The true brew lover typically has only one reaction for the craft brewery that boasts an on-site beer garden, that perfect spot to sip libations made only steps away. And that reaction? Joy. We understand those breweries that don't have space to sip, and we're happy that they send their bottles of brew out into the world. But a really nice brewhouse that invites its fans to come spend a few hours sudsing it up in the sunshine is a fine place indeed, and the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company is one such place. It's marking the decade anniversary of its on-site brewery this month, in happy Half Moon Bay style: with an easy-breezy party in the Mavericks Beer Garden.
DELISH DETAILS: The date is Saturday, Jan. 19, there shall be tunes, and cake, too from Elegant Cheesecakes. The new Anniversary Ale will be feted during the festivities as well.
HALF MOON BAY IN WINTER: The ocean-close burg does a lot of bustling business come summer, and definitely during its autumntime pumpkin extravaganza, probably one of the most famous gourd-nice parties on the planet. But we like the area in winter perhaps most of all. You can tour the historic Johnston House, eat at a quirky cafe, or visit the beach and have it nearly to yourself (well, certainly compared to the warmer months). And, if you mix in a convivial craft brew party, so much the better. Half Moon Bay, we love your pumpkins, it's true, but we like you best when things get brisk.
