September Welcome: Taste of Sonoma

Nosh around, and welcome the ninth month, at the first event on the California Wine Month calendar.

HOW TO PROPERLY LAUNCH... the start of the ninth month of the year? It is still summer, but our inclinations lean in the direction of fall, and all of the autumn-sweet icons the cooler season delivers. But beginning September at a celebration loaded with pumpkins, and fall foliage, and berry-laden branches isn't always a possibility, mostly because the pumpkin patches haven't yet opened and the trees are still mighty green. But doing something a bit harvest-y, in the wine realm, if you're over the age of 21, feels as fall-y as fall events come, and it just so happens that September is California Wine Month. And California Wine Month, an event-packed run of vineyard-lovely, raise-a-toast to-dos, starts in a major way in Roehnert Park, at the Green Music Center, where...

TASTE OF SONOMA... will pop up on Saturday, Sept. 1. Pouring, er, poring over the participant list would take a solid amount of time, so best do so while your awesome designated driver ferries you to the festivity (you have such a bud, we're sure, and you'll surely return the favor soon). Ramey Wine Cellars, La Crema, Dutcher Crossing Winery, and Grey Stack Cellars are just four of the names you'll see during the packed, want-to-try-it-all day, a day that has a seriously multi-layered dining element, too. As for the Wine Talks? Pop! Fizz! Clink! Sonoma County Sparklers starts the smart-tastic, learn-a-lot series off, while Merlot: Don't Call It a Comeback is last but not least on the list. Tickets? Lining up all you want to try, the winehouses you want to get to know, and your way to the location? Get all of that here, dear September-loving oenophiles.
