SONOMA COUNTY... is packed with pretty vineyards and wineries, and many destinations are most definitely open for business and ready to say hello to longtime fans and future fans as November 2017 gets rolling. The larger region is working to heal following the fires of October 2017, but visitors shouldn't feel the need to wait too long for a revisit or a first-time swing-by, if they know a favorite SoCo winery or hotel or attraction is open. On the contrary, numerous places have the doors fully ajar, and in certain cases, major, three-day events are ready to take place as the eleventh month revs up. One of those happenings, the 3rd Annual Vineyard 2 Villages Wine & Food Safari, will alight at over 20 Sonoma County wineries from Friday, Nov. 10 through Sunday, Nov. 12.
IT'S A FUNDRAISER... with a dual purpose this year, one that will send support, love, and help across the globe as well as next door. Organizers hope to "...fund clean water infrastructure" at 30 schools in East Africa with proceeds from the weekend, as well as donate 50% of the money raised to the Active 20-30 Club, "...which will partner with us to fund longterm disaster relief efforts for children in Sonoma County that have been most devastated by the fires." PURCHASE A TICKET, which runs from $20 to $75, then choose what wineries you'll stop at for a tasting during the Safari. Kobler Estate Winery in the Healdsburg area, Spann Vineyards in the Sonoma-Glen Ellen nexus, and several more celebrated grape growers are on board. There are a few additional special events, like a Winemaker Lunch on Sunday, Nov. 12 at Fritz Underground Winery, that will further bolster the final tally raised.
