The father of an infant found dead near a Northern California river has pleaded guilty to child endangerment, manslaughter and drug charges for his role in his son's death.
Frank Rees was days away from trial when he agreed Tuesday to a deal with prosecutors in Yolo County. The Sacramento Bee reports Rees will serve six years in state prison with the plea.
Nineteen-day-old Justice Rees was discovered in February 2015 after an all-night search of a swampy area of the Sacramento River.
His mother, Samantha Green, was found wandering and disoriented nearby. Prosecutors said she was high on methamphetamine when she wandered into the slough with the child to look for Rees after they had a fight.
Green was convicted of second-degree murder last year and is in state prison.
