A young man was shot and killed in San Rafael's Pickleweed Park Monday night, according to police.
Officers with the San Rafael Police Department were called to a possible shooting at the park on Canal Street around 6 p.m., according to Sgt. Lisa Holton.
There they found a young adult dead of a gunshot wound inside a vehicle, Holton said. She didn't identify the victim or say how old he was.
Officers told residents in the area to shelter in place for around an hour and a half while they investigated Monday night.
Witnesses told officers they saw a man running from the scene after the shooting. Holton didn't say if that man had been identified or arrested Monday night.
Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call the San Rafael Police Department at (415) 485-3000.
