YouTube Launches Its Digital ESPN

Sports geeks everywhere now have a new excuse to spend endless hours on YouTube.

The expansive online sports network Bleacher Report is using YouTube to become what ESPN is to cable.

The network announced that it will debut a new sports channel on YouTube later this week.

Bleacher Report will be the latest company to join the Google-owned video-sharing site's push to have more original content on its website.

YouTube is investing heavily to convince major production studios and media companies to create channels on its site.

"Video is great platform for us in delivering content to today’s connected viewer looking for information around the teams and topics that fans care most about," Dave Nemetz, co-Founder and VP Video Programming and Production, said in a statement. "These original programs are a reflection of that commitment and we strongly believe that users will get an enhanced experience from these shows."

Bleacher Report will start with a show called "B/R5" hosted by Desi Sanchez. The show will discuss the five biggest sports stories of the day.

YouTube has already partnered with the likes of Reuters and The Huffington Post to produce original programming on its site.
