17-Foot Python Bites 4-Year-Old Girl at Schaumburg Expo

A 4-year-old girl was bitten by a python on Thursday at the Chicagoland Fishing, Travel and Outdoor Expo, according to Schaumburg police.

Schaumburg police Sgt. Christy Lindhurst said authorities responded to a 911 call at the Schaumburg Convention Center around 5 p.m.

According to Sgt. Lindhurst, the girl was at expo with her parents when she got close to pet the 17-foot snake. The python then bit her in the neck, officials said.

Police said the 4-year-old sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken as a precaution to the Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village.
