Body of Missing American Student Found in Rome

Beau Solomon, 19, was reported missing by his roommate on Friday, hours after his arrival in Italy's capital

The body of an American college student who vanished hours after arriving in Rome was found Monday, three days after he disappeared, NBC News reported.

Beau Solomon, 19, was reported missing by his roommate on Friday, hours after his arrival in Italy's capital, John Cabot University said in a statement. The sophomore was last seen around 1 a.m. on Friday while at a pub in Rome and his roommate became "worried when he did not see Beau at orientation that morning," according to the small liberal arts college based in Rome.

His body was found Monday in the Tiber River, according to a statement from the school.

Solomon's family had earlier said after the disappearance they learned that "thousands of dollars" were charged to his credit card.

He was a visiting student from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Solomon's parents arrived in Italy Monday.

Editor's Note: This article previously reported that Beau Solomon was 20-years-old but he is, in fact 19.
