Baylor University Suspends Fraternity After President is Charged With Sexual Assault

The 20-year-old president of a Baylor University fraternity has been charged with sexual assault after a woman accused him of forcing himself on her outside a fraternity party.

Phi Delta Theta president Jacob Walter Anderson was arrested Thursday. Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton, a Waco police spokesman, says the woman reported Anderson sexually assaulted her after she drank punch he presented her and grew disoriented.

A friend took her to the hospital for an examination, and hospital staff notified police.

The fraternity's national officials say Anderson has had his membership revoked. Mike Wahba, Phi Delta Theta national chapter services director, tells the Waco Tribune-Herald that the Baylor chapter's activities have been suspended until police complete their investigation.

Anderson's attorney, Clyde Chandler, says he is investigating and planning strategy.
