Black Students Protest Over Racist Social Media Post

Black students at a state-owned university are protesting a picture of black students posted on social media with a caption comparing them to animals.

Indiana University of Pennsylvania president Michael Driscoll met with the students at the school about 45 miles northeast of Pittsburgh and tried to assure them that the university was investigating the matter and sensitive to their concerns.

But he was also asking that people stop threatening the student suspected of posting the picture while school officials investigated it.

The picture on Snapchat showed a group of black students inside the campus library with the caption "monkeys stay in groups.''

Driscoll said privacy regulations prevent him from speaking about the student suspected of posting the picture, or what discipline she might face.

About 50 students marched across campus Wednesday to demand answers from Driscoll.
