British Man in Alleged Plot to Kill Donald Trump Pleads Not Guilty

On June 18, Sandford allegedly tried to grab a gun from a Las Vegas police officer’s holster at a Trump rally

A British man who allegedly tried to grab a police officer’s gun to kill Donald Trump last month pleaded not guilty on Wednesday, NBC News reported.

Michael Sandford, 20, was ordered held in federal custody, according to the prosecutor’s office. He was indicted on three counts, which each carry up to 10 years in prison, the U.S. attorney’s office said.

On June 18, Sandford allegedly tried to grab a gun from a Las Vegas police officer’s holster at a Trump rally. He never got the weapon and was arrested immediately. After his arrest, he allegedly told investigators he tried to grab the gun to “shoot and kill Trump.”

He was detained until trial, which is scheduled for August 21.
