CLOSE ENCOUNTER: Diver Removes Hook From Shark's Belly in Waters Off Jupiter

A new video was released of a shark encounter like no other along the South Florida coast.

According to NBC affiliate WPTV, divers from Emerald Dive Charters near Jupiter saw a lemon shark that was nudging and bumping one of them, Josh Eccles, out of the water. After a closer look, Eccles saw a huge hook sticking out of its stomach.

He was able to pull it out – possibly saving the shark’s life – before everyone swam their separate ways. Divers say those sharks are common this type of year in the area.
