Man Stabbed at Baby Shower Plows Car Into Crowd, Killing 1: NYPD

A 20-year-old man who had been stabbed at a baby shower allegedly plowed his car into three people on a Queens sidewalk, killing a man and critically injuring two women, police say.

Kevin Weeks faces murder, assault and reckless endangerment charges in the hit-and-run at 225th Street and Merrick Boulevard in Laurelton Saturday night, according to the NYPD

Weeks allegedly rammed his Nissan Altima into the man and women after being stabbed in the abdomen during a fight at a baby shower. Witnesses say it appeared to be intentional.

The man, 20-year-old Kevin Lewis, was pinned underneath the car and died at the scene.

The two women, ages 19 and 21, were taken to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition. One had injuries to her back and neck, and the other had injuries to her head and legs.

"It comes to a shock for all of us that this thing happened," said Ruby Cranston, a friend of Lewis' family. "He was such an awesome kid."

Police say Weeks ran from the scene but was apprehended at his home in St. Albans a short time later. He is being treated for his wounds at the hospital.

It wasn't clear if Weeks had an attorney.

Family members told NBC 4 New York Lewis and the two women had nothing to do with the fight at the baby shower.
