Doctor Upset About Double-Parking Ticket Hits Cop in Hell's Kitchen: Sources

A New York City surgeon was arrested Thursday afternoon for allegedly hitting a cop with her car after the officer ticketed it in Manhattan Thursday morning, law enforcement sources tell NBC 4 New York.

The doctor at Montefiore Hospital is facing several charges including reckless endangerment and resisting arrest after her car allegedly hit officer in Hell’s Kitchen at about 11 a.m., sources say.

The officer and his partner were writing a summons for her car, which was double parked at West 55th Street and Eighth Avenue, and the doctor got upset when she saw that she was getting cited. Sources say she cursed at the cops and got into the car.

As she drove off, sources say her car’s open door hit one of the officers in the shin.

Cops with the NYPD's warrant squad saw the hit-and-run, and stopped the car and cuffed the driver at West 53rd Street. Charges against her are pending.

The officer who was hit was taken to NewYork Presbyterian's Weill Cornell Medical Center. The extent of the officer's injuries is unknown.
