Crowds Gather in D.C. to Call for Justice for Michael Brown

A large crowd gathered in D.C.'s Chinatown area Saturday night, calling for justice for a slain Missouri teen.

The protest calling for "Justice for Michael Brown" moved from the Mount Vernon Square Metro station to Chinatown, including outside the Verizon Center and the National Portrait Gallery.

The marchers carried signs reading "Justice for Mike Brown! Stop Racist Police Terror" and "Not One More." One hand-written sign seen outside the Portrait Gallery read, "Love All."

The protest moved peacefully through the Chinatown area.

A press release said that the organizers included National Black United Front, the ANSWER Coalition, We Act Radio, and other independent groups "that have sprung up in the wake of Michael Brown’s killing."

Since a white police officer fatally shot Brown, an unarmed, black 18-year-old, in Ferguson, Missouri August 9, protests have gripped Ferguson and begun to spread into other U.S. cities. Washington has seen several, including protests in Malcolm X Park and at Howard University.
