Deer Jumps Through Window, Wreaks Havoc at NJ School

Students at a New Jersey school were given a lesson in animal behavior Friday when a deer broke through a window at their school and ransacked an office.

The 150-pound, 1-year-old buck ran around the North Arlington Middle School building before crashing through a window, leaping over furniture and dashing into the student dean's office, school employees said.

A staff member slammed the office door shut, trapping the frightened animal inside. The deer then ran around the office, scattering papers and battering a wall.

Local animal control officers tranquilized the deer, wrapped it in blankets and wheeled it out of the school.

Classes weren't in session at the time, but news of the deer's visit became fodder for students' social media posts.
