Female Model Revives Career as Male Model

Model Elliott Sailors revived her fading modeling career by reinventing her look—as a man.

The 31-year-old former beauty pageant contestant and model from Tucson, Ariz, told the New York Post she cut her long blond hair, and has since went to castings dressed as a man.

She attributed the natural transition to her “strong jaw, wide forehead, and huge eyebrows,” features that caused her frustration earlier in her career.

Sailors said her husband, Adam Santos-Coy, is very supportive, although he didn’t realize how much people would see him differently, often mistaking the two for a gay couple.

Sailors believes this change has helped to extend her career, saying, “Men don’t need to look as young as possible, so I have a lot of time.”
