Florida Man Faces Fraud Charges for Taking Mom's Benefits

Prosecutors say he then took in more than $35,000 from the pension and benefits

A northeast Florida man faces fraud charges after authorities say he secretly buried his mother in her yard so he could continue to collect her pension funds and Social Security benefits.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Jacksonville reported in a news release Friday that 56-year-old Brian Lee Adams buried his mother in the yard of her home after she died in order to conceal her death.

Prosecutors say he then took in more than $35,000 from the pension and benefits.

He is charged with bank fraud, theft of government property and aggravated identity theft.
