Former Citigroup Exec. Gets 2 Years in Prison for Taking Bribes

John Cassisi, the former director of global construction at Citi Realty Services, was sentenced by a Manhattan judge for his role in a scheme involving New York City’s construction industry, Reuters reported.

Cassisi was sentenced to two-to-four years in prison following his guilty plea in October. He was charged with money laundering in the third degree and commercial bribe receiving in the first degree. He must also forfeit $500,000.

Prosecutors said he accepted cash or gifts from people representing contracting companies who wanted to influence his decision in awarding contracts.

Cassisi’s lawyer declined to comment. A Citigroup representative did not respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
