George H.W. Bush Released From Hospital, Resting at Home

After spending over a week in a Houston hospital, George H.W. Bush is now resting at home.

The former president was "released from the Houston Methodist Hospital today" and is "grateful to the doctors and nurses for their superb care," a spokesman said in a statement.

Bush, 90, is the nation's oldest living former president. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital early last week after suffering from shortness of breath.

Family spokesman Jim McGrath described the hospitalization as a precaution.

On Monday, a spokesman for the former president said his breathing had returned to normal but he was to spend one more night in the hospital pending approval from doctors on when he could return home.

Two years ago, Bush spent nearly two months at the same hospital for treatment of a bronchitis-related cough and other issues. He also has a form of Parkinson's disease.
