Inert Grenades Found in Massachusetts Charity's Donation Bin

A bomb squad was called to a convenience store in Dudley

A Massachusetts State Police bomb squad was called to a convenience store after three inactive grenades were found inside a clothing and toy donation bin.

Police and firefighters arrived at the Dudley Plaza on Tuesday afternoon after reports that an employee found items in a box of toys that appeared to be in the shape of grenades.

Bomb squad members conducted a search and determined that the items were Vietnam-era military devices.

The incident caused the Cumberland Farms to temporarily close and traffic was detoured in the area while the bomb squad was called.

Once the items were inspected and found to be inert, they were removed and taken to another location.

Police are investigating how the items ended up in a clothing bin.
