KKK Fliers Land on Orange County Driveways

Residents of an Orange County community that considers itself diverse still cannot believe what landed on their doorsteps: a recruiting flier for the Ku Klux Klan.

"SAVE OUR LAND. JOIN THE KLAN," reads the flier by the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.

"You're like, 'Is this real?'" resident Jeri Sutphin said.

The fliers were wrapped in plastic bags and weighed down with rocks when residents on Almond Avenue found them July 12 and 13.

"I was spellbound that somebody had taken that amount of time in an area that wouldn't welcome something like that, really," Pat Dufrane said.

The flier from the South Carolina-based group lists a hotline to call for information.

"It's time to enforce immigration ... To put troops on the border with shoot-to-kill politics," the message said.

Amin David of Los Amigos, a former president of the civil rights group, said he was upset to see how the KKK mentioned immigration.

"They're against the refugees now coming and children, so they're fearful," David said.

The website says the group is a brotherhood for God, race and nation. A video from the website shows what the klan calls a recent cross lighting.

"I don't want my neighbors who have immigrated and built lives here from other countries to feel threatened in any way," Dufrane said.

Police told NBC4 no crime was committed because the fliers were placed on open driveways, like a newspaper.
