A Tennessee megachurch pastor received a standing ovation from his congregation after he admitted to a "sexual incident" he had with a high school student 20 years ago, NBC News reported.

Pastor Andy Savage’s admission came just days after the woman came forward to accuse him of sexually assaulting her in 1998, when she was 17 and he was the 22-year-old youth minister at the church she attended in Texas.

The woman said in the post on a Christian blog that one night Savage offered to drive her home from church, but instead took her to a dirt road in an area surrounded by trees and had her perform oral sex on him.

Highpoint Church Administrative Pastor Jim Pritchard verified the statements from Savage, as well as the video of his admission that was posted to YouTube. He told NBC News that the church will release a statement in the following days.
