Men Burglarize San Marino Home, Then Kidnap, Rob Visiting Friend

Police in Southern California say two men held a woman and a babysitter at knifepoint while they burglarized a San Marino home, then forced the victims' visiting friend to take them to his house, where they robbed him of cash.

Two men were burglarizing a home on Lorain Road at noon Wednesday, when a woman and a babysitter walked in on them, the San Marino Police Department said. The burglars held them at knifepoint as they collected jewelry and cash.

The burglars were interrupted again when a family friend showed up a few moments later, police said. The men forced the friend into their car and made him take them to his house in Arcadia, where they robbed him of cash and fled the scene.

No one was hurt in either incident, police said.

Some neighbors said they were installing new alarm and surveillance systems after hearing of the crime.

There have been three home robberies this year, officials said.
