At Least 8 Injured After Car Hits Group of People in Framingham, Massachusetts

At least eight people were injured when a car plowed into a crowd at an auto auction on Friday morning in Framingham, Massachusetts.

It happened after 9:30 a.m. at an ADESA vehicle auction house at 63 Western Avenue, according to The MetroWest Daily News

Framingham police said the incident occurred inside the building, when a 78-year-old man who was driving a vehicle at the auction accidentally accelerated, striking eight people and five vehicles that were parked inside.

The driver, who was hired by the auction to help drive the cars and facilitate where they should be, also hit the car in front of him, which his wife was driving. The crash set off a chain reaction that resulted in several people being struck before the driver slammed into a cinder block, according to police.

Police said most of the injured people were not seriously hurt, but one was run over by a car and dragged. The victim was taken by medical helicopter to MetroWest Medical Center.

At least seven people were injured when a car dealer hoping to sell a vehicle accidentally drove into a crowd of people at the Adessa Car Auction in Framingham, Massachusetts, Friday morning.

Although Framingham police say at least eight people were injured, MetroWest Medical Center's CEO, Barbara Doyle, told necn that medical staff were treating 10 patients in total, with six at the Framingham campus in stable condition, and four being treated at the Natick campus in good condition with minor injuries.

The driver was shaken but not injured. Police said his wife was hurt.

Auctions are still continuing at the venue.

Framingham police are investigating, but no charges have been filed.
