Police Report Details Robbery of Mayor's Son

The pair took his phone and patted the teen down asking, “What else you got?” the police report states

Mayor Rahm Emanuel's teen son was punched in the face and placed in a chokehold as he was robbed near his family’s home in the Ravenswood neighborhood just days before Christmas, according to a police report released Friday.

According to the police report, 17-year-old Zach Emanuel was walking on the 4200 block of North Hermitage talking on his cell phone at about 10 p.m. when a man put his arm around the teen’s neck, putting him in a “rear chokehold.”

A second man then punched Zach Emanuel in the face, knocking him to the ground and forcing Emanuel to drop his phone.

The pair took the phone and patted the teen down asking, “What else you got?” the police report states.

They then told him to enter his security code in the cell phone and fled southbound on Hermitage.

Emanuel was treated at his family’s home by a personal physician for a laceration and blunt force trauma to the mouth and face.

Officers searched the area but were not able to find the suspects, police said.

The police cameras on the corner of the block were reportedly not working during the incident, according to a City of Chicago source.
