“Second Avenue Sinatra” Found Dead: NYPD

A construction worker dubbed the "Second Avenue Sinatra," who has been missing for a month, was found dead Friday, hanging from a tree in Queens, police said.

Gary Russo, 54, was last seen around midnight July 28 at his home on 90th Street in Howard Beach, Queens, police said.

Dubbed the "Second Avenue Sinatra," Russo made headlines for setting up his karaoke kit each day during his 30-minute break and serenading the beleaguered residents near the $4 billion Second Avenue subway station construction site.

He’d stand in front of a sign that reads, “Forget all the noise, traffic and the impact of the 2nd Ave. Subway. Enjoy the music.”

Police responding to a call near the intersection of 165th Avenue and 92nd Street found Russo with a rope around his neck, hanging from a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene, investigators said.
