Son, 17, Charged With Killing His Parents at West Texas Home

A 17-year-old West Texas high school student has been charged in the fatal shooting of his parents.

Odessa police say the teen was arrested Wednesday on a capital murder charge after his parents were found slain in their home.

Police didn't immediately say whether the suspect was charged as a juvenile or an adult.

A police statement says Odessa officers about 5 a.m. Wednesday responded to a home in reference to a deceased person.

Officers found a man and a woman fatally shot, then identified the victims as the suspect's parents.

Police didn't say who contacted officers about the victims or a possible motive in the killings.

Odessa police didn't immediately return messages Wednesday.

A school official said the suspect is a sophomore at Permian High School.
