    A tornado touches down in Tulsa, Okla., on Wednesday, March 31, 2016. The City of Tulsa said in a statement that several roads were closed and police and fire crews were canvassing the city. The Streets and Water Departments are assisting with road barricades and debris removal. At least nine injuries were reported.

    Storms brought tornadoes, heavy rain, hail and flash floods to the Southeast, tearing down trees and power lines Thursday, and will continue to threaten region Friday as the system moves east.

    A tornado ripped through Lowndes County in Mississippi, Thursday afternoon, according to NBC affiliate WTVA, leaving about 5,000 customers without power Friday morning.

    The storm weakened overnight but was expected to continue pummeling the region as it moves over Alabama, Georgia and the Carolinas.

    Severe thunderstorms will continue to flare up across parts of the Gulf Coast and Southeast, the Weather Channel said.
