Teen Saves 4-Year-Old Sister From Would-Be Kidnapper

Neighbors saw the suspect prior to the incident pacing in front of the home where the children live.

A 13-year-old boy rescued his little sister from an attempted kidnapping in Lancaster, sheriff’s deputies said Saturday.

A man allegedly walked into the fenced yard of the family’s home in the 300 block of West Kildare Street just before noon and asked the 4-year-old girl for her name. He then reached down, grabbed her and tried to leave the yard.

But her older brother grabbed the man’s arm and called for help, asking for someone to call 911.

The little girl was not injured.

Neighbors flagged down a passing sheriff’s patrol car and were able to direct them to a man believed to be the one who tried to take the little girl.

The man had been seen pacing in front of the home where the little girl lives just prior to the attempted kidnapping, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect has been detained until deputies complete an investigation. His identitiy has not been released.
