Teen Shot by Uber Driver in Kalamazoo Improving

The 14-year-old girl critically wounded during a shooting rampage in Michigan is improving, loved ones said Tuesday, adding that her condition was upgraded from serious to fair, NBC News reported.

"Our girl is fighting...and winning! HER CONDITION HAS BEEN UPGRADED FROM SERIOUS TO FAIR," said a statement posted on an online fund for Abigail Kopf. "Please continue to hold this amazing girl through her climb and help us bring her home."

Kopf was shot on Feb. 19 at a Kalamazoo Cracker Barrel, the last of three sites where Jason Brian Dalton allegedly sprayed bullets into people at random. By the end of the rampage, six people were dead — including four older women who Abigail was with.

Kopf's condition was so grave that her doctors originally thought there was the possibility she would become brain dead — but a squeeze of her mother's hand proved otherwise.

Her father, Gene Kopf, said last week that his daughter "is going to have a very tough road to recovery."
