Tornadoes Reported in Dangerous Storms Across Southeast

Severe weather swept across the Southeast again on Wednesday, bringing threatening tornadoes and leading to the cancellation of the Masters' opening day par 3 tournament, NBC News reported.

The strong severe weather system left a huge area under tornado watches until as late as 2 a.m. ET Friday, according to the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center. The advisories stretched from eastern Alabama across Georgia and north to parts of Kentucky and Tennessee.

"The safety of everyone on our grounds is always our primary concern," said Masters' golf tournament chairman Billy Payne after players were ordered off the course in Augusta, Goergia.
