Newly released video shows the chaos that ensued as an Orlando police officer fired at a stolen vehicle after it nearly struck another officer.
Officers attempted to stop a white Dodge Charger on Saturday, Jan. 16 for a seat belt violation just after midnight.
As officers got out of their cruiser, the driver of the charger hit reverse in an attempt to get way from police. The officers approached the car, but the driver continued to drive forward and nearly struck one of the officers.
That is when police say Officer Jonathan Mills fired his weapon at the car. The driver kept going, but eventually crashed into a nearby vacant home.
The driver, 17-year-old Trevon Lamons, was taken to the hospital for treatment. He's since been transported to the juvenile assessment center. The other two passengers managed to get away.
Lamons has been charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a motor vehicle, grand theft auto and fleeing and eluding an officer.
The teen has a criminal history with three felony arrests, including vehicle theft and burglary, according to police.

It is not known if Lamons has hired an attorney.
Officer Mills has been employed with the Orlando Police Department since 2012. As standard procedure, he has been placed on paid administrative leave as FDLE investigates the shooting.
