Federal agents removed items from former U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock's campaign office in central Illinois on Thursday.
Roughly a dozen agents were seen outside the Peoria Republican's office, some wearing identifying gear from the FBI as they loaded boxes and other things onto trucks, according to the (Peoria) Journal Star. Peoria's WMBD-AM reported agents were seen removing items from the office earlier in the day.
Agents on the scene deferred questions to the U.S. attorney's office.
U.S. attorney's office spokeswoman Sharon Paul declined to comment Thursday. Schock's attorney and an FBI spokesman didn't immediately return messages.
Prosecutors are going through Schock's travel expenses and spending after reports surfaced that he had decorated his Capitol Hill office in the style of TV's "Downton Abbey."
Schock resigned in March amid the intensifying scrutiny.
Among media reports about Schock's spending were Associated Press investigations of real estate deals, air travel and spending on entertainment, which included events he documented on social media accounts.

Former members of Schock's staff have been testifying before a grand jury in Springfield, which is investigating allegations of improper spending. Earlier this week an aide who booked travel and submitted expense vouchers for Schock testified, one of at least six ex-staffers seen at the federal building during grand jury proceedings.
