CHP Motorcycle Officer Airlifted to Hospital After Crash on 101

A California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer was airlifted to the hospital after crashing into the center divider on the 101 Freeway in Agoura Hills Sunday morning, according to the CHP.

The officer was riding in the passing lane at around 7:30 a.m. when he suddenly veered into the divider. The bike flipped and slid about 700 feet. The officer suffered severe injuries, including road rash, but is expected to survive, the CHP said.

Investigators are looking into whether the officer was cut off by another vehicle or if his bike had mechanical issues. They are asking any witnesses to come forward with more information.

All westbound lanes of the 101 Freeway were shut down near Chesebro Road for about an hour following the crash. Some lanes were opened at around 8:30 a.m. The freeway was fully opened at 11:30 a.m.
