Sheriff's Investigators Looking Into Death of 4-Year-Old Palmdale Boy

The parents have been interviewed, but no arrest or charges have been brought forward, officials said.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department announced that it is investigating the suspicious death of a 4-year-old boy from Palmdale in a news conference Tuesday.

The incident took place around 4 p.m. on July 5 in the 1200 block of East Avenue S in Palmdale, officials said at the news conference. The child was taken to Palmdale Regional Hospital, before being taken to Children's Hospital Los Angeles. The boy was pronounced dead early Saturday morning, authorities said.

The boy, Noah, was at his house and the biological mother and father were present, Lt. Joe Mendoza of the LASD said. The boy had trauma on the body, which was not consistent with the parents' call to police reporting a possible drowning, authorities said.

The parents have been interviewed, but no arrests or charges have been brought forward, according to Mendoza.

Neighbors say the family only lived at the apartment complex for a month.

Noah lived with three siblings at the home, officials said, and the other three children were removed from the home by the Department of Children and Family Services, who previously had reports regarding the boy.

The LA County Sheriff's Department is investigating the child's death.

Local politician Kathryn Barger said child welfare is everyone's responsibility.

"I'm eager to see what results from the investigation by law enforcement, and the criminal charges that may follow."
