Fairfax Firefighters Rescue St. Bernard From Icy Lake in Storm

Firefighters in Fairfax County, Virginia, rescued a scared St. Bernard from an icy lake in Fairfax Station Saturday night.

Video from the rescue shows the firefighters in Woodglen Lake coaxing the dog out of the lake and cheering when it was rescued.

"The dog was rescued from the freezing pond and placed in the medic unit for drying and re-warming," the fire department said on their blog. "After approx. 30 minutes the dog and owners were taken home and warming efforts continued. After rewarming the dog appears healthy and in no distress."

The dog's family had been tubing down the hill toward the lake when the dog walked out on the ice, firefighters said.
