Firefighter Attacked After Responding to Injured Pedestrian in San Bernardino

The situation unfolded around 8 p.m. with a call about a pedestrian who was struck by a car at a busy San Bernardino intersection. Fire-rescue personnel found a woman who suffered a head injury.

During the response, a man who was with the woman became upset with one of the firefighters and attacked him. It was not immediately clear why the man attacked the firefighter, who was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The man was arrested on suspicion of assault, according to police.

The pedestrian was hospitalized in serious condition.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene.
