Firefighters Revived a Dog After She Was Pulled From a Smoke-Filled Trailer

The dog was found unresponsive in a burned travel trailer in Riverside County over the holiday weekend

Firefighters rescued and resuscitated a dog trapped in a burning travel trailer near Lake Perris who had passed out from smoke inhalation over the weekend, the Riverside County Fire Department said Monday.

The fire occurred at 10:14 a.m. Saturday in a travel trailer parked in the Lake Perris RV Campground at 17801 Lake Perris Drive, according to a series of tweets posted by the fire department. When firefighters arrived at the scene, a quarter of the trailer was on fire and crew members knocked down the door to search the inside.

There they found a female dog lying "lifeless" in the burning trailer overcome by the smoke and were able to pull her out. First responders gave the canine oxygen therapy and applied electrical stimulation and she "began to come around," according to the department.

"Her care was passed to City of Perris Animal Control. The last update received was that the dog was alert and attentive," the final tweet said.

The fire was contained in about 20 minutes though the owners of the trailer could not be located, fire officials said.
