Zimmerman Arrested, Allegedly Pointed Gun at Girlfriend

George Zimmerman was arrested Monday following a domestic disturbance in which he allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a gun. Zimmerman has been charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor criminal mischief, according to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office. His girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe, told a 911 operator and deputies that she and Zimmerman were having a "verbal dispute" and she alleged that he broke a table and pointed a shotgun at her, authorities said. Both Zimmerman and Scheibe called 911. In Scheibe's call, she can be heard shouting at Zimmerman that he broke her glass table, sunglasses and put a gun in her face. She can also be heard telling Zimmerman to leave her house. Zimmerman denied brandishing his gun in his call to 911, telling the dispatcher "My girlfriend has, for lack of a better word, gone crazy on me." Zimmerman, a former neighborhood watchman, was acquitted of second-degree murder earlier this year in the killing of Florida teen Trayvon Martin.
