Los Angeles County authorities say two juveniles found in a car with guns and live ammunition told authorities they were attempting to take part in a kidnapping prank.
The 17-year-old male suspects were arrested Saturday near the 26000 block of Torrey Pines Drive after someone reported seeing them exiting a vehicle while carrying guns, said Sgt. Brian Hudson, of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.
When police arrived, they stopped the vehicle, which was being driven by one of the suspects, and found a 15-year-old inside, Hudson said.
During the stop, the second suspect arrived and "immediately" told an officer he was carrying a gun, at which point he shook his leg and a gun fell out from his waistband, Hudson said.
The two suspects told police they were trying to prank their friend by faking a kidnapping. The suspects and the 15-year-old are all friends, Hudson said.
"This is a terribly poorly conceived prank," he said.
Police recovered rifles and pistols, which belong to one of the boys' father, said Hudson.

The suspects could face weapons-related charges. Both are 17-years-old and were released to their parents, the station said.
