John Boehner Calls Ted Cruz ‘Lucifer in the Flesh' at Stanford University

Boehner was reportedly encouraged by the event's moderator to be frank because the event was not being broadcast

Former House Speaker John Boehner did not hold back when asked how he feels about presidential candidate Ted Cruz on Wednesday.

"Lucifer in the flesh," Boehner told an audience at Stanford University, according to the Stanford Daily. "I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life."

Boehner said he'd vote for his "texting buddy" Donald Trump, with whom Boehner has played golf with for "years," in a general election if he becomes the nominee. He would not vote for Cruz, he said.

He described John Kasich, as a "friend" too, although he suggested the relationship takes "more effort" than others.

Cruz said Thursday he's "never worked with" Boehner and met him only two or three times. He said he reached out to Boehner during the government shutdown over Obamacare but that Boeher was not interested in speaking with him.
