Larry King To Host Telethon to Help Gulf Oil Victims

Not just talking about the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf, Larry King is now spearheading the effort to help those affected.

On Monday night,  the veteran talk show host will be presenting a telethon to benefit the victims of the spill as part of a special two-hour edition of "Larry King Live" on CNN, The Associated Press reported.

Among the guests scheduled to appear on “Disaster In the Gulf: How You Can Help” are Robert Redford, Randy Jackson, Justin Bieber, Sting and Cameron Diaz. The network said that the celebrities will speak with King in person and by satellite as well as working the phone banks.

According to a "Larry King Live" blog post, 'American Idol'’s Ryan Seacrest will be hosting a “social suite” for those using networking Web sites such as Facebook. Viewers are being encouraged to use their social media site to bring awareness and start a dialog about how to help.

Funds from the telethon will go to the Nature Conservancy, National Wildlife Federation and the United Way.

The special will air on the network from 8 to 10 pm EST.
