Venues: Tradition Meets Innovation at London 2012

From the hallowed grounds of Wimbledon, where one of the most prestigious tennis events has been held since 1877, to the city's shiny new Velodrome, London has worked tirelessly to re-purpose its architectural icons and add new structures to its landscape in preparation for the 30th Olympiad. The Lord’s Cricket Ground will host archery, while spandex-clad volleyball players will compete at the 267-year-old Horse Guards Parade. Greenwich Park, London’s oldest Royal Park, will be the site of equestrian events and basketball players who advance to the medal rounds will shoot hoops in the O2 Arena.
