Marvel's Got a Couple of Surprises Heading for the Mulitplex

Bby now you've likely seen the hilariously photoshopped pic of The Avengers on the cover of the latest Entertainment Weekly, but like your momma used to say, it's what's on the inside that counts...

The intrepid comic nerds at io9 got their hands on an advance copy, and have shared with the world Marvel's slate of upcoming films, with updates on three long-gestating projects, and word of two newer films.

As has been reported, "Iron Man 3" is being directed by Shane Black, and it should arrive May 3, 2013; Patty Jenkins of "Monster" fame is the likely choice to direct "Thor 2"; Edgar Wright ("Scott Pilgrim") has a great draft of a script for "Ant-Man," which he plans to direct--no word on Nate Fillion taking the lead.

"Guardians of the Galaxy," about a team of 31st-Century heroes, each of whom are the last of their kind, is still in development. Marvel movie maven (sorry) Kevin Feige says, “There’s an opportunity to do a big space epic, which Thor sort of hints at, in the cosmic side of the [Marvel] universe.”

And then there's "The Inhumans," a group of superhumans developed millions of years ago by the alien Kree to battle the Skrull Empire--you can read more about them at their Marvel Universe Wiki page.

This all seems well and good, but where's the latest on "Dr. Strange"? Back in May, Feige told PopcornBiz, “The next one is Dr. Strange. I'd like to tap into two things: tap more into the world of magic – which 'Thor' isn’t, really, but Strange entirely is, and I like that a lot."

And what of Luke Cage, aka Power Man? Is he still being relegated to Marvel's short-film ghetto?
