A monster crowd gathered at the Santa Monica Pier Monday night, not for an event, not for a rally, but to play "Pokemon Go."
The huge gathering was spotted around 10 p.m. as SoCal users, clearly as obsessed with the game as the rest of the nation, played the augmented reality app game.
The game, based on the 1995 media franchise, took the nation by storm as authorities warned users of its dangerous distractions.
Virginia sheriff's deputies warned that the app was no reason to trespass, as many users had been chasing fictional Pokemon characters into off-limits areas.
Unsuspecting gamers were also robbed in Michigan, NBC News reported.
