Tributes Held for Teen Couple Killed in Hacienda Heights Crash

Two 18-year-old high school sweethearts who were killed in a horrific crash in Hacienda Heights were remembered at tributes this weekend.

George Steward II and Sabrina Castillo were killed on Oct. 18 when their truck was struck by a speeding Lexus that went airborne off of the 60 Freeway near South 7th Avenue.

Friends and visitors held a moment of silence for the couple Saturday evening prior to a football game at Mt. San Antonio College, where Steward was a freshman long snapper.

Steward's younger brother sang the national anthem, and his parents were asked to be on the field.

The couple was also remembered Friday at a Los Altos High School, where they both graduated earlier this year.

Steward's younger brother and sister were asked to be honorary captains for the Los Altos High School home football game.

On the night of the crash, the two were on a date headed to Knott's Scary Farm.

The California Highway Patrol said the impact was so intense, the pickup truck's roof was ripped off. The teen couple died at the scene.

Family and friends said Steward and Castillo were best friends, and always together.

Castillo's mother Riasdema Silva said the accident was simply tragic. "In the end they are together and that's all that mattered, that's how they wanted it."
