Egypt's military chief Abdel Fattah al-Sissi is stepping down from his post to run for president, he announced Wednesday. Al-Sissi is expected to win the election easily, after deposing President Mohammed Morsi last year amid massive protests of his Muslim Brotherhood-aligned government. Al-Sissi said in his televised statement, though, that he could not "perform miracles" and called on Egyptians to work to improve their country. Under Egyptian law, only civilians can run for president, and according al-Ssisi said he would "give up the uniform to defend the nation."
